The STR industry is under a full attack. Lawmakers, policy groups, resort town locals, etc., are blaming the STR industry for a host of housing issues that have plagued resort towns since they were, well, resort towns. In an effort to find “balance” STR’s are facing extreme headwinds.
Breckenridge Lawsuit: Colorado Property Owners for Property Rights, a non-profit group of homeowners and real estate and property management industry professionals, have brought a lawsuit against the Town of Breckenridge to invalidate two ordinances that restrict short term rentals. Summit County Lawsuit: The lawsuit Ruelle et al v. Summit County Board of County Commissioners et al is currently in motion practice in Federal District Court in Denver. Summit County filed a motion to dismiss the federal claims and move the case to state court. The Plaintiffs replied with a motion to maintain the federal claims.
